Why doesn’t Arsenal Spend?
I do not understand why Arsenal fans continue to spew hatred against Arsene Wenger for not spending. Arsenal Football Club is a large organization that has a board, this board decides on the budget, makes decisions for the best interests of the shareholders and issues directives. The board should be held accountable if the fans feel the board is not spending money while Arsenal Season Ticket Holders pay the highest in the country.
The majority stakeholder of the company is Stank Kroenke. He has maintained a reclusive attitude towards the media and tends to avoid doing interviews. This has helped shift blame away from management and only those who have to remain in the public eye continue to get criticized.
It would be unfair to say that Arsenal Football Club hasn’t been spending in the past couple of seasons with the purchases of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez, Granit Xhaka, Shkodran Mustafi, and Lucas Perez amounting to over a 100 million Euros. The issue lies in the fact that other big clubs in the Premier League are spending more and investing in key positions on the football pitch best suited to their teams style of play.
Arsenals failure to buy a striker is well-documented because they’re not willing to spend the enormous amounts of cash on a single player. This purist approach is what Arsene Wenger and Arsenal Football Club stand for.
Another reason for not being able to buy an established striker could be that they’re failing to attract the best talents during the prime years of their career.
